OIL FILTERS
-
Resistance to Flow - measures
the pressure drop across the filter at the rated flow
for your filter.
-
Filter Capacity and Contaminant Removal Characteristics.
This procedure evaluates the filter dust capacity and
determines the overall weighted gravimetric efficiency.
-
Media Migration - Evaluates the filter media
and the fabrication process. It assures the user that
the filter itself is not going to introduce contaminants
to the engine (i.e. metal filings, adhesive, filter
media fibers).
-
Anti-Drainback Valve - tests the filter ability
to prevent oil from draining out when the engine stops,
and it is restarted it still has oil in it.
-
Ability to meet environmental conditions, Low
Temperature Sealing Characteristics of Spin-on Oil Filters
on Sealing Gaskets.
- Mechanical Test, Hydrostatic Burst Pressure
Test.
- Vibration To evaluates the filters ability to
not come loose and leak when exposed to vibration and
hot oil under pressure. The filter may also leak from
its metal seams or weld points.
